The main features of this tool include:

  • Universal Access: You can listen to your music through a modern Web UI or a wide variety of third-party mobile apps for both iOS and Android.

  • High-Capacity Performance: It is built to be "blazing fast" and is capable of handling gigantic music collections, having been tested with libraries of up to 900,000 songs.

  • Smart Library Organization: Navidrome supports multiple libraries, allowing you to separate content (such as music vs. audiobooks) and set user-specific access controls for family members or personal use.

  • On-the-Fly Transcoding: To save on mobile data plans, the software can convert or reduce the size of music files as they are being played.

  • Ecosystem Compatibility: It is compatible with the OpenSubsonic API, which is the industry standard for music servers, ensuring it works with a vast ecosystem of existing clients.

  • Open and Active Development: Distributed under the GPL v3 license, it is a free, community-driven project with regular updates, bug fixes, and an active presence on GitHub, Reddit, and Discord.
